Wave Your Cake Flags

Over the weekend, we had a big ol’ blast celebrating my man’s thirty years in this world. Aww, my sweet, birthday man! We threw in a few surprises, dined al fresco, and as every good birthday party should, we celebrated with cake – and a lot of it.

In addition to a yummy carrot cake from a Cincinnati bakery – hand delivered by his parents Saturday morning (surprise!), I also whipped up a honkin’ batch of red velvet whoopie pies via Abbey Cat Chat. I followed the recipe to the letter, and good gracious, I did well (can I say that about myself?). But this is about Scott, of course, and so to salute the awesomeness that is my man, I added these DIY printable banners (first pinned here, printed on our trusty home inkjet, then hand cut and taped to toothpicks). I couldn’t get over how darn cute they were, and the 6 buck price tag was well worth it – considering that the file is now ours, and they can be used over and over again.

How were your weekends? It got stupid cold here (as in, we went from 100 degrees early in the week to a 60 degree high on Saturday), but it was nothing a scarf (and some old-fashioned grumbling, grumble grumble) couldn’t fix. What’d ya do? Where’d ya go?

Those are so adorable and have my mind spinning with ideas for my wedding. We were thinking cupcakes rather than wedding cake, and with little banners, they would be awesome! Especially because our wedding will likely be fairly casual.ReplyCancel

    Hi Katie,

For our wedding, we had cupcakes rather than a traditional cake as well! These would be super cute for your wedding. I noticed that the Etsy seller, ReadyGo, also had lots of cute wedding banners, too!ReplyCancel

    Hiya!

So glad Scott’s birthday went well and you enjoyed the whoopie pies! I’ve made them quite a few times, once even attempting to make stars (it wasn’t pretty). They are so tasty and worth the extra effort!

    Hope all is well :)ReplyCancel

LOL. So I just read the “year ago” part on Facebook and realized everyone else posted last June.

Way to go with attention to detail, Andrea. And … happy HALF-birthday?? lol. The whoopie pies still look awesome.ReplyCancel
