Watson the Cat

A few weekends ago, Scott and I enjoyed an afternoon at the summer Renegade Craft Fair. But for the first time ever, we came home empty handed. Yes, we fell in love with countless items as we always do, but we persevered through the Fair, knowing we didn’t quite need anything.

That’s how we remembered it, but when you’re in an induced state of crafty-high-goodness, you tend to forget things.

We met The Medium Control team on the earlier side of things, and I spotted Watson the Cat – er, more specifically, these kitty coasters. We had to have them. They were kitties! On coasters, for goodness sake! After grilling them with burning questions such as, what wood are they crafted from? and how do they hold up to condensation? (ugh, I can be such a nerd), another couple swooped in and bought them. But they were the last set. I was visibly shocked and upset by the couples’ smooth, quick swoop-in-factor, so the kind folks at Medium Control offered to ship us our own custom set – at no extra charge! Sold. I’m so easy. (Um, wait a minute.)

For those wondering (or if you’re dorky like me), they’re made with solid pine and flocked felt. Perfect for soaking up beer condensation or trapping heat from your morning cup. We did actually leave empty handed, but we also made a purchase for that much needed pick-me-up.

They arrived over the weekend while we were celebrating birthdays, so of course I flipped when Scott told me we had a package waiting for us upon our return home. Whoot! They were a sweet surprise that I had completely forgotten about; happy early… um, Christmas to us!

Aren’t they cute? And hey, you’ve purchased things and forgotten too, right?

I die! I don’t see your version of the coasters with the karate kitteh and sleepy kitteh — just packs of 4 happy and 4 sleepy. I’d love to have a mixed set like yours.ReplyCancel

Katharine – it’s because someone took ’em!

Maria, I think maybe they were selling a mixed pack at the Fair, but I don’t see them online either. I bet if you emailed them, they’d make you a custom set. They’re awesome folks!ReplyCancel
