Vlog: Our Tree House 2 Years Later!

Somehow, time has escaped us. We looked up one day this summer, and we said, can you believe we’ve had our Tree House for 2 years?! 2. Years. Tree House has been a labor of love unlike any other, and we feel so lucky to say that it’s already been filled with the happiest of memories – like building a small kitchen from scratch. Creating my dream mudroom. Making the beds on antique frames that’ll grow even older with us. Painting the guest room with a baby Lucy strapped to a carrier on my chest. Eating pizza on our side ‘stoop’ from paper plates made from the box, setting up a sprinkler in the yard for the kids and talking late into the night around a bonfire – and then waking up to the familiar scent of wood smoke and fresh coffee.

Today, we’re taking you on a tour through this house that has become a home for us, our family and friends. You’ll notice some extreme differences from the first tour (if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth a watch!), whereas other things still remain the same – ahem, bathroom. We hope you enjoy the tour!

If you’re wondering where something is from, it’s probably on our Shop page! (And how handsome is our Norman Leigh dining table?)

You can see the room-by-room progress right here, sort of like a follow-your-own-adventure.

Never have I ever owned such comfortable, float-y pants.

Everything about this is the best! Thanks for being a major source of inspiration for me. Did I mention the window in the bathroom is amazing? Can’t wait for you to do that room!!ReplyCancel

Love this!! You have made SO much progress at Tree House! Are you planning to replace the back patio doors in your outside rehab or will they stay? If they stay (or if you replace), will you paint them black? Keep up the great work!ReplyCancel

They’re staying, and we’ll be painting them black for sure! It’s on our short list. Can’t wait to knock that project out!ReplyCancel

Love this little cabin! It’d totally BnB it and rest in the wood for a while. I never really noticed before, but do you have a man-hole in the backyard? Is that city-owned/maintained or yours?ReplyCancel

It’s a dry well to help with drainage. I just pretend it’s not there, haha!ReplyCancel

LOVE this! So cozy, everything is looking amazing!  Random question – the blankets on the leaning shelf – is there a source for those?
Seriously though – I just want to grab one of those blankets, curl up on the couch, and listen to a record.  Love it all!ReplyCancel

    Well done! 👏👏👏
What a cozy retreat, it’s been so fun to follow along with the renovation!
What is your timeline for tackling the bathroom? If nothing else it would be great to know what you have in mind for the space!ReplyCancel

We THOUGHT we were going to do it this summer, but then had a last minute change of heart, knowing that it made more sense to focus on the exterior before winter comes. So maybe we’ll get it to this winter?!ReplyCancel

Thanks for sharing the vlog.  I’m new to your blog so this was a great catch up about The Treehouse.  I even went back to read about the winch for the ladder – that was a great idea!ReplyCancel

I love the tree house, especially the loft.  I still marvel at the wallpaper on the back wall.  Question for you, how do you find living with only one bathroom?  We have a lakehouse which I love but it only has one bathroom, I’m contemplating adding a second one (in a closet, it will be tiny!) but it would mean giving up some storage.  My husband doesn’t think it’s necessary.ReplyCancel

      Thank you!

It’s been totally fine. We have mirrors in both bedrooms and the entryway, and even had 6 adults in here without an issue. Is it sometimes inconvenient? Sure! But it’s really not the end of the world. ;)ReplyCancel
