Today, We’re 3!

It’s been 3 years since we’ve started this blog (a word that Scott still can’t say; it makes him itchy), and it’s been an incredible ride. After sharing my first puppy painting – a birthday gift for Scott years ago – you’ve supported us. You’ve asked for your own custom art (by the hundreds), you’ve come back to see what we’ve been doing and you’ve left us sweet words, given us input and shared your opinions. Our tiny home has ebbed and flowed along the way, but it’s because of you that I’m now living as a working artist. Good gracious, just think about that. You’re amazing.

To celebrate, we shared a slice of s’more pie from Bang Bang, a new treat in our neighborhood. The verdict? Four thumbs up and two happy bellies.

Last year, you wanted to know a little more about who we are, and we shared those answers here and here. If there’s anything we’ve missed, ask away! And if you’re a new reader (or maybe the silent type), please, tell us about you, too. What makes you, well, you? Do you also write? Where can we find you?

Thank you for sharing with us and allowing us to do the same.

PS: We’re bursting to share our Pet Shop announcement tomorrow morning. It’s been a busy couple of months to get our ducks in a row, but we couldn’t be more excited. See you then!

Congratulations! I’ve been a silent reader for a while now, but I love that blogging has led you to the career of your dreams!! I write over at voyage-on.blogspot.com – check me out! :)ReplyCancel

    Congratulations on your 3rd Anniversary!

I’m a long-time reader but only an occasional commenter; however, I find you to be a true inspiration. I love your writing, the artful and practical improvements you’ve made to your home (especially since I live in a small space myself), and your adorable, “furry” art. But most of all, I’m inspired by your ability to do what you love each day.

I’m a full-time writer for a retailer by day, and an eager DIYer/artist/baker by night and weekend. I’ve been working on combining just a few of my interests through a freelance position as a food/restaurant writer for a website. My hope is that I’m someday able to make my true passions my full-time job.

If you want to take a look, you can find my recipes, restaurant reviews, and general food musings here: http://www.examiner.com/food-in-philadelphia/michelle-hein

    Keep the posts coming!ReplyCancel

Congrats! It is amazing that you have taken this to really be doing what you want to do. Excited to see the big reveal tomorrow, and I’m interested in knowing more about this pie shop….ReplyCancel

  • Congratulations! I’ve been silently reading your blog and lusting after your portraits (it’s on my Christmas list for this year) for about a year. I love watching the projects you tackle in your home and the fact that you keep it real. Homes aren’t filled overnight :) Anyways, I thought I’d say hi. If you’re looking for any recipes for the two of you or some (I like to think) witty dialogue, stop by and see me at http://www.modernmealsfortwo.comReplyCancel

    Yaaaay, three years! Congratulations, guys!

You know me, a frequent reader (and commenter) in Omaha. I’ve been following your blog for two years now and absolutely love it; my favorite! I’m excited to see what’s happening tomorrow and I just can.not.wait to see the new Pet Shop! I’m still hoping that you two will talk it through to potentially sell some of your photos (drool) on Etsy, because there are many I could see in my home.

    Have a great day!!!ReplyCancel

Just adding my well wishes to the rest – congratulations Scott and Kim (and a belated Happy Birthday, Scott!). I daily check out Yellow Brick Home and whenever there’s a new post it’s always a highlight for me. Truly love your style (design and writing), your photos and Kim’s anal/perfectionism that always makes me smile (because I can so relate!).

I already asked all of my personal questions last year – but I am wondering why Scott gets itchy when you say/write “blog”?

Hoping for many more years of blogging from you two!ReplyCancel

Emily, I’m enjoying your blog! Thank you for sharing!

Michelle, wow, you are BUSY. Your words are very sweet, thank you SO much!

Two Pitties, we’ll have to make a pie-eating-double-date.

Heather, I’m always looking for new recipes! Scott’s more of the cook in our home, so perhaps I’ll have him poke around your site, ha! I hope I get to work with you around the holidays this year, too.

Miranda, thank you so much! We’re definitely considering it. Perhaps we’ll dedicate our Etsy shop to photography. It’s on my list of things “to do,” so we’ll keep you posted!

Susan, glad you can relate. Perhaps that’s why we love Jubilee so much! As for the word “blog,” Scott simply thinks it’s an ugly, ugly word. I sort of have to agree. He won’t say it – rather, he’ll say, “I liked your website post today!”ReplyCancel

Congrats on three years! I check in daily, and I just love your style and ideas! You have helped to save my couches from my fur babies with the upside down office mat idea, not to mention some great decor inspiration as well. I write over at ilikewhatimherring.blogspot.com. I dabble in art, including some pet paintings, and I’d love for you to check it out! It’s so inspiring to know that blogging led you to a career you love! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Pet Shop tomorrow!ReplyCancel

    And many more!!

I agree with the others. I check this site the minute I’m informed of a new post and devour each one like a delicious dessert yet savoring every word and photo as if it’s the last. I also second the mention of putting up your photography for sale. Prints, postcards, the boundaries are limitless! Just notify me if you do!ReplyCancel

Hi Rachel, of course you KNOW I love your gold leafed horse heads, right? Awesome! Your pet portrait style is amazing as well!

Tina, Thank you! I had no idea so many folks were interested in the photographs. Must. Get. On. That.ReplyCancel

  • I think that’s so fun that you found your “calling” by chance! Happy 3 years! Can’t wait to see the new website reveal tomorrow….I’m so excited!ReplyCancel

Happy anniversary! I am a relatively new reader and very much enjoy this site. I have to agree that blog is kind of an ugly word. I cringe a little when I say it, but I do still use it.ReplyCancel

Happy anniversary! You have a lovely blog and are uber talented and stuff. I have a big question. Why oh why didn’t you get your OWN piece of pie? =) I for one and too greedy to split what looks like a wonderful piece of pie. Good for you for exercising some control.ReplyCancel

  • Kim6.14.12 - 2:12 PM

Emma, haha, my friends joke that I have the stomach of a bird. I get full WAY too fast to ever eat my own slice! I force Scott to share things with me whenever possible!ReplyCancel

Happy blogaversary!! It’s been a joy seeing all your inspiring projects (I live in a pretty small space too) and I can’t wait until I’m able to order a painting of my pup! :)ReplyCancel

Congratulations! I’m so glad I found your blog recently- it seems like every week you, among other things, give us a cool new place to visit/explore! (S’mores are my favorite food. There *will* be s’mores pie in my future!). Thanks for being an awesome re-introduction to Chicago!ReplyCancel

Congrats on three years…and your new shop! It’s gorgeous. Someday we’ll get a pet and order a portrait for ourselves, and I’m sure I’ll blog all about it if we do…http://rustsunshine.blogspot.com. ;-)ReplyCancel
