The Week’s End

We kept our weekend free of plans or agenda, resulting in an entire Saturday – from sun up to way past sun down – free and clear for St. Pat’s celebration. With our friends and neighbors, we fueled the day with the breakfast of champions, viewed our green-dyed river downtown and spent the in-betweens eating, drinking and game playing. I discovered a love of Guinness for the first time, and I’m wondering, why have you been keeping this a secret for so long?

Our weekly Sociabulls walk with Jack & co. was the perfect start to an 80-degree Sunday, followed by smoothies, hockey and an afternoon nap. (In all fairness, we did run one errand.) We ended the weekend with more eats and more drinks on the outdoor patio of a favorite neighborhood haunt.

What did you do?

Guinness is perhaps unfairly branded as something more masculine than it really is. As far as full-bodied beers go, it is relatively low in both calories and alcohol. And besides being delicious, it’s one of the more aesthetically pleasing beers out there – it’s so recognizable in draught form that it’s practically an accessory.ReplyCancel

Congratulations on discovering Guinness! But seriously, what DID take you so long? As an Irish(wo)man, I only drink black beer on St. Patrick’s Day. Green beer is for Americans. ;-)ReplyCancel

Jimmy, if only someone had told me that YEARS ago!

Laura, I have no idea. I think I always thought it would be too strong or milky or something. Honestly, I just don’t think I ever gave it a chance. And now? I’m in love.ReplyCancel

I did my beer drinking the weekend before, at Golden Road (where we went with Chuck and Libby). They had a blood orange hefe microbrew that was amazing!ReplyCancel
