SV KC 07

Way back in 2007 when Kim and I bought this YBH together, we were among the first to move into the building after it had undergone it’s gut renovation. Some of the outdoor improvements were still being wrapped up, and one day I came home from work to find some still-damp cement near our back gate. Being the young, dashing charmer that I was (am), I quickly found a stick and got to work on this beauty:

Yup, it says SVKC as opposed to SVKV or something equally married-like. That’s right folks, we were (gasp!) unhitched when we signed the papers to a life of debt together. Of course the bank didn’t mind. Those were the days when mortgages were being tossed around like Skittles on Halloween and we were (are) blissfully in love! But I digress… As you now know, it’s officially been 4 years since we acquired the keys to our humble abode, and my concrete love note is still holding strong. A crack in the 7 seems to be growing each winter, but our initials are weathering the alley harshness nicely.

So, spill the beans, friends. Has anyone else ingrained any brownie-point-grabbing permanent sentiments in or around your home? Any Giving Tree style initials scrawled somewhere permanent?

Suppa cute :) We bought our house two years after it was built and last year noticed someone scratched in the tiniest “HI” right next to our mailbox. Hi is really the best you can think of?! Haha. Yours = MUCH more meaningful! If it starts getting too cracked you guys should make a mold of it! :DReplyCancel

      Thanks, Elisa! Now making a mold… that’s a great idea!ReplyCancel

We have never done this, but there are some kitty paw prints in our driveway that I just adore. If only the dogs knew what had walked those steps before they moved in . . .ReplyCancel

Oh this makes me want to promptly leave work, drive home, carve out our initials in a tree and then come right back. I vaguely remember signing the concrete before our floor was laid, but maybe that was a dream? Regardless, I need to get on the proof of love thing right away.ReplyCancel
