Sunday Funday

Everybody loves tradition, right? Early September marks the time when Kim and I hop on our trusty bikes and pedal down to Wicker Park for the summer edition of the Renegade Craft Fair (last seen right here). You may even remember way back in December when we actually participated as vendors in the madness that is Renegade, but we peruse the summer edition simply as spectators and potential consumers of hand-made art and wares.

Yesterday (ahem, Sunday Funday), we almost escaped without opening our wallets, (that is, with the exception of few necessary bucks for a sweet horchata coffee) but alas, we were thisclose to home free when we noticed this:

Technically, we didn’t purchase anything from the fair. We did, however, shell out a bitty five bones for this fantastic vintage hanging lamp from a nice, older gentleman who was having a ca-razy sidewalk sale – timed perfectly with the Renegade happenings. (I’ve got to hand it to the fella, he knows how to market to the masses.)

My lady could hardly catch her breath, as she was freakishly in love at first sight – which, by the way, I absolutely agree. As you can see, the lamp is in less than perfect cosmetic condition (this photo was snapped pre-dusting – while it may look a bit weathered, I assure you it’s actually in great shape), but we’ve got a few ideas up our collective sleeves as soon as we get it all cleaned up and shining bright.

I noticed last night that I missed the art fair. I was really dissapointed, I went for the first time last year and LOVED it and was excited about going again this year. Can’t wait to see the end product of the lamp.ReplyCancel

Wow, that lamp is amazing. Any idea where you’re going to put it? [You don’t have to tell us yet :)] And photobooths = love.ReplyCancel

Elisa, we have a pretty good idea, but first we’ll need to rewire it and make sure it’s a right fit. I still can’t believe we found it for $5! It was meant to be.ReplyCancel

I too am excited to see how this turns out, because you do have such a good eye. And it was good running into you at Renegade. Levi was able to perfect his “I need to be adopted” look, and we ended up meeting a lot of people.ReplyCancel
