Renegade Ready

First, congratulations to Tara, winner of this week’s Janery giveaway! Congrats, and have fun stocking up on cute loot. XO to Jane, for being our awesome host!

After weeks and weeks of prep, the Chicago Renegade Craft Fair is here! This weekend! We’ve been working around the clock (like, for real) to push out a ton of new paintings and prints, but this year, we put a little spin on things. In an effort to keep things fun and new, we focused on more than just house pets. For months, I kept a list of friends’ favorite animals, adding some of our own to the mix, and this year, we’ve popped them into vintage frames (and in some cases, painted right over old panels):

In addition to ones that are wall ready, we also rounded up a handful of stand-up frames, keeping things bright and cheery – in other words, we’d totally put these on our shelves. (Above and below are just a few of what we’ll have in stock!)

And in other news, Scott has insisted that if our sloth doesn’t sell, we’ll be mailing her to Kristen Bell – his Hollywood crush. You’ve seen this video, right?

Just like years past, we’ll have our standard canvas + wood panel pieces, gift certificates for custom-portraits-in-waiting, and this weekend only, we’ll be taking pre-orders for January 2013 – so you can get your name on that list early and be at the top of our 2013 list!

For those that aren’t familiar, the Renegade Holiday Market is an indie craft fest, featuring hundreds of handmade artists in the super charming Pulaski Park Fieldhouse. (They pop up around the country, so check out their page to see if there’s one in your area, too!)

The fest will also have a gift wrapping station (so you can really knock out your holiday to-dos!), a photobooth (you know we like to cheese it up every year), DIY crafting stations, and yummy local foods and drinks. It really is our favorite event of the year – no matter how ca-razy it gets behind these scenes leading up to it. In the end, it’s worth every minute we’ve poured into it (we’ve jokingly compared it to preparing for a wedding, only the work is squeezed into 2 months!), and we especially love meeting our local pets’ moms & pops in person.

And because we’d love to see you, meet you, and really just hang out with you – mention the secret password JACK FROST, and we’ll give you $5 off your Fair purchase. Compliments of this little buddy:

We’ll be at booth #19 in the main auditorium; look for us there! And for more information, peek the entire Renegade rundown right here. Anything that doesn’t sell will hit The Pet Shop soon after the weekend – that is, if I can pry the sloth from Scott’s hands.

PS: We’re part of a pet-lover gift pack over at Love and a Leash today! By putting your name in the lottery, you’ll be helping a dog training scholarship fund, which in turn corrects behavioral issues and helps keep dogs in their loving homes. Yeah, puppies!
