No Foolin’

The weather in Chicago warmed up so fast and suddenly this weekend, that no one knew what to wear. Seriously, it’s this time of year that gets weird, and nothing in your wardrobe seems to make sense anymore. While running errands the last couple of days (basically every task we’ve put off in the last few weeks), we admired the bravery of those that wore tank tops (it wasn’t that warm!), wondered whether or not to layer our jackets, and switched from snow boots to slip-ons. I considered sticking to the comfort of wool scarves and earmuffs, but the 50-degree temperatures had me choosing only one of the two (the scarf – always the scarf).

Because today is supposed to be in the 30s again (boo!), we took advantage of the quick weather warm-up and spent our Sunday afternoon along the lakefront, followed by a celebratory treat of frozen yogurt. Extra chocolate on mine, of course.

Oh, celebratory, because no fools – we also spent our weekend over paperwork and contracts, initialing and signing our way into a new home purchase. It happened so fast! We were surprised, too. We’ve put The (Unreal) One behind us, and we’ve moved on. We’re cautiously optimistic, but we’re also holding our tongues until we’re in the clear – and we’re not there yet. Soon, though.

Please tell us you ate your weight in chocolate bunnies this weekend?

I know how you feel! Especially since I’m a chicagoan as well! It feels especially cold this month since I keep thinking back to last year when it was unseasonably warm in March and was 70 degrees. The nearly 60 degree weather was very enjoyable for an Easter weekend though. :)ReplyCancel

And this isn’t an April Fool’s joke…!!?!?!? I love how the whole post was about the weather and you threw that in there at the end. Eeeeep! Can’t wait to hear all about it :)ReplyCancel

  • Kim4.1.13 - 9:49 AM

Katrina, agreed! almost 60 in April? Even for just one day? Yes!

Amanda, it really isn’t! I’m terrible at practical jokes (Scott says I’m the worst liar ever, so I just don’t even do it…), so it’s the real deal. But there are still many things pending, so we’re staying mostly quiet for now.ReplyCancel

Funny how as soon as you move on, The Real One is there like “Hello, about time you got here!”

It was beautiful here in Erie, too (it seems like we’re on the same weather schedule as Chicago!) and we made sure to be outside as much as possible! Yesterday was one of those extra-weird weather days: the sun was warm, but the air was cold! It was so hard to dress appropriately!

PS – love that photo of Jack against the water!ReplyCancel

  • Kim4.2.13 - 8:31 AM

Congrats on the potential home purchase!!! I can’t wait to see pictures and future projects. Your blog offers so much inspiration and its fun to vicariously live through home improvement projects with you (being a renter has it’s drawbacks).
No Easter candy for me, but I did get to enjoy a few days in Morro Bay with my family playing on the beach, looking for sand dollars, and eating the best raw oysters and clam chowder ever.
    Cheers!ReplyCancel

  • Kim4.3.13 - 11:05 AM

Alexis, you’re so sweet, thank you! Scott will be extremely jealous of your Easter weekend eats – I’m not a seafood person myself, but he lives for it!ReplyCancel
