More Puppies

Meet Boozha, Saskia, Lucy, Dante, and Mia. In that order. These pups were put to panel after our friend Melissa saw Rider hanging on Penina’s wall. Excited to take on the challenge of capturing more puppy personalities, I gladly accepted the job, and in the end, she eagerly gifted them on to her mother as a personalized birthday surprise.

Based on Melissa’s suggestions of background colors, props, and photos of the real deal, I conjured up sketches with the help of my trusty friend Photoshop, drew them onto wood panel, and painted them to life. After whipping out my paints, teeny tiny brushes, and warm bowls of water, I realized that I was just too darn excited to see the final results. So before I knew it (and losing all track of time), I hungrily finished all five on a lazy Sunday, gave myself the proverbial pat on the back, and went to sleep a happy lady.

The best part? I wasn’t the only one who was happy. Melissa’s reaction was priceless, and I couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying scream of joy. And boy, do I mean scream. Ouch (with love, Melissa). Now, if only I can squeeze in the time to brush up some mini art of our own beloved furballs. I must say, our fuzzy children would look mighty cute up on the wall. Oh, always the biased mother.
