Kohler In the Kitchen

This post is in partnership with Kohler.

As we’ve slowly been updating every surface of our kitchen, it’s funny how easily we forget how things were before. Those yellow walls? The floating stove? Washing dishes by hand? Pfft! A distant memory! We’ve been spending an exorbitant amount of time in this room, nit-picking that 5% (of what’s actually done, that is), making lists for the coming weekends and daydreaming about the day we can lay out that runner. As I find myself spiraling when things don’t look great right this second, Scott has me take a step back and remember those yellow walls, that floating stove and dish washing marathons. There’ve been road bumps along the way, timelines delayed and a back door situation that became so mixed up, it was no longer maddening, but comical. (More on that at a later date, we can only hope!)

So for now, let’s focus on all the good that’s happening in this kitchen! At the top of our wish list was a large, single bowl sink and faucet, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have partnered with the team at Kohler for this upgrade. In conjunction with Countertop Day, our Cape Dory sink was installed, and later that night, Scott re-plumbed our touchless(!) Sensate faucet:

We opted for a classic all chrome finish on the faucet, and when paired with the sink, well, it’s just so good. The day that sink arrived on our front porch was an ecstatic one, filled with numerous texts to Scott and way, way too many of these: !! He wanted more photos from all angles, for which I happily obliged.

Our old sink and faucet combo did it’s job, but the spray handle didn’t lift correctly, and no matter how many times a day I scrubbed it, it was incapable of looking freshly spruced. It must have had a pretty rough life before us, because it never looked a day cleaner than what you see (below) on the left. This new sink, though? Beautiful. Classic. It’s sort of rocking our world right now:

kohler-sensate-04

While we were at it, Scott replaced the plastic plumbing with chrome plated brass, and I had a field day installing these heavy duty racks. All of our cleaning supplies were finally stripped of their cardboard boxes, and you better believe my heart skipped a beat.

kohler-sensate-08kohler-sensate-09

Once we were good to go, we had a field day testing out the Sensate over and over (and over) again. Because it’s AC powered (we had our electrician run a power supply for this reason), there are no batteries to install, and it just works. I’ll admit to being hesitant with a touchless faucet at first – won’t it be fussy? – but a quick wave with your hand, spoon or pot will turn the water on and off!

kohler-sensate-10kohler-sensate-11

And finally, we have a spray head that works again! It locks into a magnetic docking system in the faucet’s spout, clicking into place when not in use. The spray itself is a wide, thin blade that makes cleaning out the sink easy and fun, and at the risk of sounding like a Sensate spokeswoman (where do I sign up?), we truly love this entire set up. The only downfall is the time we waste playing with the sensor.

But of course the very best part of this entire collaboration is that they want to team up with one of you, too! Together with Kohler, we’ll be giving away a Sensate touchless faucet in the finish of your choice (a $688 value)! Using the Rafflecopter widget below, enter as many ways as you’d like. This giveaway is eligible for those located in the United States or Canada and runs through this Friday, February 27st until 5pm CST, and the winner will be announced within this post. Good luck and happy entering!

getting there! I’m enjoying watching your progress and taking notes for my own remodel I hope to start next year!ReplyCancel

  • karen2.24.15 - 6:49 AM

The favorite part of my kitchen is a large exposed brick wall. We have been thinking about adding lighting to make it more of a feature…especially at night. We have been thinking about replacing our stainless steel sink, and this one looks beautiful in your new kitchen. Do you miss having the double bowl?ReplyCancel

  • Heather2.24.15 - 6:49 AM

Best thing about my kitchen? The huge island! We just moved in a month ago and I’m still giddy with how large the island is (and the fact that I even have one)!ReplyCancel

  • susan2.24.15 - 6:52 AM

i love, love, love the clean lines of that faucet. it’s so nice to have it mounted directly to the counter top without that big, blocky base to try and clean around. nice look!

and thank you for the great give-away!ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 7:52 AM

Definitely our fave part about it! It’s so sleek and simple to wipe down!ReplyCancel

  • Jocelyne2.24.15 - 7:01 AM

Great faucet! The best thing about my current kitchen….the fact that we are moving away from it in May! It is untouched since the 50s except for small updates and new appliances. Can’t wait to get to my new house with brand new everything!ReplyCancel

  • Teresa2.24.15 - 7:09 AM

Wow. It’s beautiful. Love the counters too!ReplyCancel

  • Chloe2.24.15 - 7:13 AM

The best part about our kitchen (in our new house, moving in this week), is a dishwasher!!! No more dishes piling up in the sink, no more hand washing….I can’t wait!ReplyCancel

  • Sajida2.24.15 - 7:24 AM

I love how everything is coming together. The white sink with those gorgeous counters and Chrome faucet are beautiful. Your blog has inspired me to finish that 5% thathad been driving me crazy for so long now it’s embarassing to mention! Thanks :)ReplyCancel

That 5% is EVERYTHING. It will be worth it!ReplyCancel

      • Sajida2.24.15 - 10:18 PM

I’m looking forward to hearing about how you go about finishing your kitchen to perfection. I’m stuck on how to finish off some of the gaps between the toekicks and hardwood flooring and where our cabinets meet the ceiling.ReplyCancel

        • Kim2.25.15 - 9:10 AM

You may want to try quarter round by the toe strips and cove molding where your cabinets meet the ceiling. Finish that up with caulk and paint, and you should pretty seamless transitions!ReplyCancel

  • Emily R2.24.15 - 7:37 AM

Love the new sink and faucet – however NO DISPOSAL? I couldn’t do it. Any reason why not? I mean, I’ll live without a dishwasher, but not a disposal. A reno seems like the perfect time to include one.ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 7:50 AM

Oh, good catch! We actually had electric run for one, and had a switch installed as well (above the counter line, to the right of the sink). So it’s ready to go when we are… We haven’t had a disposal for almost 10 years and haven’t missed it yet, but we made sure to run the proper electrical if we ever change our minds or get the urge to install one.ReplyCancel

      • Emily R2.25.15 - 6:22 AM

Oh good! It seemed unthinkable with a reno you wouldn’t include one. I know what you mean about not missing something you don’t have though!ReplyCancel

Best thing about my kitchen – it might not look pretty, but it is always full of kids, life and laughter.ReplyCancel

  • Steph M.2.24.15 - 8:21 AM

The best thing about our kitchen is the large sliding glass doors out to our deck. The door is south facing so it brings lots of natural light and sunshine into our kitchen. It’s not a very big room so all that light helps it feel warm and open and bright. We’re going to be doing some updates in there this year so this faucet would be an amazing addition!ReplyCancel

  • Lauren M2.24.15 - 8:30 AM

Our current sink is in the same condition as your old sink…it just won’t get clean! Your kitchen is an inspiration! Great job!ReplyCancel

  • Katie2.24.15 - 8:55 AM

There isn’t a whole lot of wonderful about our kitchen at the moment….but it does have a whole lot of potential!!! I’m itching to start finalizing the plans for it’s redesign but attempting to focus on finishing exams first…..it will be my reward. :) Until then – I love all the wonderful kitchen tools our family has gifted us, and the fact that it has a south-facing window!ReplyCancel

  • Amber2.24.15 - 8:58 AM

The sink and faucet looks great! Our faucet right now kind of looks like your before photo – a little sketchy! Best part of our kitchen is the counter with stools for quick eat-in meals.ReplyCancel

  • lori2.24.15 - 9:00 AM

Best thing about my kitchen? Its size — 20×25. The downside of that? The eventual remodel is going to cost a fortune!ReplyCancel

  • Amy2.24.15 - 9:01 AM

This post makes me miss my large single bowl sink. We now have a double bowl, and I really don’t see the advantage!ReplyCancel

  • Melanie2.24.15 - 9:02 AM

I don’t have a lot of best things about our kitchen (from the 50’s – never been updated) but the fact that we have one, in our own home (not an apartment!) is still a dream. Doing dishes (no dishwasher here) while looking out over the backyard at our puppy playing in the grass (snow right now) is still a dream.ReplyCancel

  • elizabeth2.24.15 - 9:05 AM

the best thing about my kitchen… the pending remodel:)ReplyCancel

  • Kelsey2.24.15 - 9:06 AM

Our kitchen sink faucet just broke over the weekend, this would be a perfect replacement. I love it!ReplyCancel

  • Ashly2.24.15 - 9:09 AM

The best thing about my kitchen is the future! We have a hodgepodge of updates made over the last sixty years and I can’t wait until we can bring the kitchen to a cohesive state!ReplyCancel

we just added a subway tile backsplash and I am loving the way it transformed our kitchen!ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 9:17 AM

Oooh, so good to hear! We are dying to install our subway tile, but first we need to install the under cab lights. Did you use a contrasting grout or a similar grout color to the tile?ReplyCancel

  • Michelle2.24.15 - 9:13 AM

The best thing about my kitchen is that we have so much more counter space than we did in our apartment! We moved in last spring, shortly before our June wedding, and it still feels a little like we’re “playing house” as first time home owners.

We’ve been saying we’d love a touchless faucet, so this would be wonderful!ReplyCancel

  • Claire2.24.15 - 9:13 AM

The chrome adds just the right finishing touch!ReplyCancel

  • Jane2.24.15 - 9:17 AM

The thing I love most about our kitchen is the light from the windows in the afternoon. I take so many photos then. Our NYC kitchen might be small and lacking counter space, but those moments make it feel perfect.ReplyCancel

  • Priscilla2.24.15 - 9:20 AM

I want my sink to be spoiled by this faucet!ReplyCancel

  • Phong2.24.15 - 9:29 AM

I don’t have a favorite thing yet. But the faucet sure is nifty.ReplyCancel

  • Elysa A.2.24.15 - 9:30 AM

What I like best about my kitchen…..hmmmmm. I guess I would have to say I like the fact that we are almost ready to renovate our 1973 era kitchen. Winning this faucet would make my day!ReplyCancel

  • Thom2.24.15 - 9:31 AM

Best thing about our kitchen is our island. It’s a bit pieced together (Ikea stainless tabletop, old wooden frame, new laminated project board shelf), but looks sharp, houses our giant dog food bin underneath, and provides a much needed extra surface for food prep.ReplyCancel

  • Yvonne tan2.24.15 - 9:34 AM

Hi, I’m an avid reader of your blog. Your kitchen is beautiful and coming along! Best thing about our kitchen? Err… Nothing? We became a new homeowner not too long ago and are just grateful to have a crappy kitchen of our own :)ReplyCancel

  • Laura @ chaotic domestic2.24.15 - 9:37 AM

We just redid our floors through the whole downstairs, including the kitchen… It was a long time coming so they’re my favorite.ReplyCancel

LOVE that sink! And those shiny counters!ReplyCancel

    • rachael w.2.24.15 - 9:48 AM

The best part about my kitchen is the canopy window that overlooks our kids sandbox. We can leave the window open in the warm weather and never worry about rain blowing in. We can see the whole backyard and its fun to watch the kids play.ReplyCancel

  • Jillian2.24.15 - 9:51 AM

My favorite thing about our kitchen are the huge windows. I love watching the sun rise over the trees in our backyard while I make breakfast! Even if we are still savin for our own remodel, those windows make it worth it.ReplyCancel

  • Kim2.24.15 - 9:51 AM

Talk about fancy pants! Our faucet is so ugly, there isn’t even a “head” on it – just a plastic piece that helps it move from side to side. I’ve been dying to get a new one but it just isn’t a priority when it works just fine.

    This would seriously be amazing!ReplyCancel

  • Kelly jones2.24.15 - 9:51 AM

    Beautiful!ReplyCancel

  • Kelly H.2.24.15 - 9:52 AM

Love following along with your kitchen reno! Ours was updated a couple of years ago with new cabinets, countertops, and appliances and I love them all. The only things we didn’t replace were the sink and faucet (they were just a year old) and I’ve been thinking that it’s time for new ones. I’m loving the clean lines of this faucet!ReplyCancel

  • Lisa P2.24.15 - 9:53 AM

There is nothing I like about my kitchen. Hoping to start a reno this year.ReplyCancel

  • Tony2.24.15 - 9:57 AM

Everything is coming together, it’s fun to see the progress! Jennie and I have quite a few things under way in our house, but I think we may need to pause them to install some of those sliding under-sink storage options – they look awesome and useful!ReplyCancel

  • Katek2.24.15 - 9:58 AM

Beautiful sink and faucet! Reno is looking great!ReplyCancel

  • Heather2.24.15 - 9:59 AM

Fancy faucet there Kim! Nice One! I absolutely love my current kitchen, but I am embarking on a new house renovation journey and a new faucet would be just the ticket!ReplyCancel

  • Ryan2.24.15 - 10:02 AM

Looking good! I’ve been thinking about switching to one big sink bowl rather than the standard two small ones.ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 10:18 AM

Having always had a double sink, I can say that we are in LOVE with a single bowl! We can lay large pans in there to soak, and it just feels so spacious. Love, love.ReplyCancel

  • Wendy2.24.15 - 10:06 AM

I am getting more and more jealous of this kitchen of yours. Our sink looks much like your old one, no matter what I do, it’s streaky/dirty. And I dream of an undermount sink, someday…ReplyCancel

  • Natalie2.24.15 - 10:09 AM

The best thing about our kitchen is that it’s a full-sized kitchen. We lived in a 600 sq. ft apartment while saving for our house, but the kitchen was only about 36 sq. ft of that. There are lots of things I’d love the change about our kitchen, but I’m so grateful to have counter space, a dishwasher and room to turn around that I can’t complain ;)ReplyCancel

  • Ashley2.24.15 - 10:12 AM

Unfortunately I live in a rental, so there’s nothing I Really love about my kitchen. The only thing I really love are the decorations that I’ve added to make me smile when I walk in there. My favorite are the giant marquee letters that I made!ReplyCancel

  • Sarah2.24.15 - 10:20 AM

I just bought a new house.. I’m still in Escrow.. but how exciting would it be to win one of these for my new house?!?!

the best part of my kitchen is the view outsideReplyCancel

  • Emily R.2.24.15 - 10:28 AM

The best part of our kitchen is that it’s pretty large. The space isn’t laid out all that efficiently (something we hope to remedy eventually) but it definitely has the square footage (and cabinets) necessary to be usable and comfortable.ReplyCancel

  • Bryan2.24.15 - 10:35 AM

I hate our current faucet. Also, love the idea of touchless, hate getting contaminants on the handles and having to deal with that.ReplyCancel

  • Yumi2.24.15 - 10:36 AM

The best part of my kithen is the flow of the workspace. It’s pretty small so it allows me to work quickly and there’s less to clean. Hooray!ReplyCancel

  • Trilby C.2.24.15 - 10:42 AM

The best part about our kitchen is NOT our faucet (so here’s me with all my fingers & toes crossed that I come away a winner!). If I had to choose one thing, it would be our very large kitchen island. It contains a ton of drawer storage, a fabulous stainless steel top, and a ledge on one full side that we’ve tucked barstools under for an eat-in kitchen area.ReplyCancel

  • Marie2.24.15 - 10:42 AM

The best thing about my kitchen is the large island that my husband made. We don’t have much storage so adding the island made a huge difference!ReplyCancel

  • Jason2.24.15 - 10:42 AM

Right now the best thing about our kitchen is the appliances, since they are all new. The rest of it needs a major overhaul, which is in the works for this year.ReplyCancel

I am interested more in the sensor! I tend to get pissed off in a public restroom waving hands around trying to get motion sensor utilities to work. So I immediately equate motion sensor with annoying. It would be interesting to experience otherwise!ReplyCancel

  • Crystal2.24.15 - 11:11 AM

Is it really not fussy like the sensor faucets in public restrooms, where you almost have to dance a jig to get the thing to work?ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 11:20 AM

To Skye (above) and Crystal – not fussy AT ALL. I was the biggest skeptic, and it is truly spot on! I can’t sing it’s praises enough. I have no idea what kind of sensors public restrooms use, but I will agree with you that they are the absolute worst – by the time I’m done washing my hands, I’m usually too frustrated to even use the “automatic” hand dryer! This Sensate is fancy shmancy, and we are so in love.ReplyCancel

  • Ashley Z2.24.15 - 11:16 AM

What’s the best thing about my kitchen, you ask? Besides the fact that my fiance and I make some KILLER food in there (seriously, despite our best efforts we have turned into really good cooks)I guess the coolest thing about it is the invisible floor vents. Hear me out – our kitchen is not great, but we just bought our first house so it’s OURS which by default makes it special to us – and the previous homeowner was a slob and did absolutely zero upkeep on the house. The one thing he did, though, was put in nice wood floors in the kitchen, and the floor vents are made of the same wood and match it perfectly. You don’t see any metal cover, the grain of the wood all runs in the same direction…it’s like the floor vents are completely invisible. They eye just misses them entirely.

The fact that the floor vents are “cool” should give you an idea about the state of the kitchen, haha! But it’s neat to me :-) Slowly but surely we’ll get our kitchen as nice as yours!ReplyCancel

  • Liz2.24.15 - 11:18 AM

I need this faucet! Love your whole sink set upReplyCancel

  • Kelly C.2.24.15 - 11:21 AM

I’m curious how you decided on the single bowl sink, instead of the double basin? So far, are you happy with how it is functioning? We currently use one side of our double basin for a drying rack, and I was worried with a single basin we would have to move the drying rack to the counter. Do you place a drying rack on your counter, or are you responsible enough to dry and put away immediately? ;-)

You’re kitchen is looking amazing! Can’t wait to see the final touches!ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 11:28 AM

We are smitten with the large single bowl – it helps with soaking large items immensely! We got rid of the drying rack we used to have, and now we just rinse things and put them right into the dishwasher. For items that we wash by hand, we’ve been resting them on the counter with a dish towel and put them away when dry. To be honest, we’ve been putting our dishwasher through the ringer though – it’s SO nice to not have to wash everything by hand anymore!ReplyCancel

  • Jody2.24.15 - 11:22 AM

I love that our kitchen is open to our family room and dining room and that it has a lot of counter space!ReplyCancel

Your kitchen is already looking GORGEOUS! I have been hunting for a faucet like this one but haven’t been able to pull the trigger on one yet. Love it!!ReplyCancel

  • Johanna2.24.15 - 11:30 AM

My kitchen will be built this summer and I´m super exited! In the meanwhile, I´m totally in love with your white cabinets and those counter tops. But my favorite thing in your kitchen is that pocket door! :)ReplyCancel

  • Kyley2.24.15 - 11:39 AM

The best thing about my kitchen….that we’ll be gutting it completely in the next few months! :) I can’t wait to get started and a new faucet would come in so much handy as we have yet to take the plunge on that!ReplyCancel

  • Monika2.24.15 - 11:46 AM

I absolutely love the pot rack in my tiny dog-leg shaped kitchen. Moving into a much smaller house had some definite pluses but the teeny weeny little kitchen wasn’t one of them. Installation of that pot rack = sheer genius! It left cupboard space available for other important items. Yay! Now if only I had one of those fancy Kohler sensor kitchen faucets. :)

P.S. Great job on the kitchen. It’s fabulous and I love the white!ReplyCancel

    Looks so clean and beautiful!ReplyCancel

  • Julie Reuter2.24.15 - 11:48 AM

The best thing about my kitchen is that it is amazingly organized. The woman who lived there before us redid the entire kitchen and used every nook and cranny. I have slide out drawers in the cabinets, slots for baking sheets and cutting boards, built in spice racks, etc. It’s absolutely wonderful.ReplyCancel

  • Mike2.24.15 - 11:48 AM

The best thing about my kitchen is that it’s about to be destroyed and replaced with a new one.ReplyCancel

  • s. smith2.24.15 - 11:50 AM

I love this set up! We have great (old house) bones in our kitchen, but I can’t wait to get new countertops and a big white sink. I would love to have a touchless faucet someday! Big envy.ReplyCancel

  • Hannah H2.24.15 - 12:09 PM

Oh, we could so use this! Beautiful job and thank you for hosting the giveaway!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica2.24.15 - 12:21 PM

We just moved into a small bungalow built in 1913. Over the years, the previous owners seemed to have done their best to really take all of the life out of it. The best thing about the kitchen would have to be all of the natural light it gets – everything else (vinyl flooring, cheap wood paneling, laminate cabinets and countertops, cheap appliances, terrible work spaces) will eventually have to go!ReplyCancel

  • Barbara Harrington2.24.15 - 12:23 PM

While I love the look of a single basin sink, seriously love it. Will you have some sort of dish drain sit on the counter (for the non dishwasher safe stuff)? Or do you dry dish right away by hand?ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 12:32 PM

We’ve been washing them by hand and laying them on a towel on the counter, then putting everything away pretty quickly. I will admit that we have been giving our dishwasher a workout though – and we don’t have a lot of items that can’t be put in there. We’ve even stashing stemmed wine glasses in the dishwasher, and it’s been great!ReplyCancel

  • Jenny2.24.15 - 12:27 PM

We moved about 8 months ago and although the kitchen is in good shape it’s builder basic and pretty blah. My favorite update is removing some extra cabinet crown molding above the sink, nixing the florescent light attached to it, and installing a pendant light from the ceiling. Now to work on getting rid of the rest of the blah!

Your kitchen remodel is looking great. Can’t wait to see the finished product!ReplyCancel

  • jen2.24.15 - 12:34 PM

We recently remodeled our kitchen and I was a little hesitant about our (large) single sink but I love, love, love it!ReplyCancel

  • Arianne2.24.15 - 12:38 PM

The best thing about my kitchen is the white subway tile back splash. My husband and I installed it ourselves, and we took it all the way to the ceiling. It really makes a statement.ReplyCancel

  • Kate S.2.24.15 - 12:44 PM

This is the first touchless faucet I’ve seen that I actually like. It’s beautiful! We’re about to remodel a kitchen ourselves–here’s hoping I win!ReplyCancel

  • Tanja2.24.15 - 1:03 PM

What is good about my kitchen… I have pretty nice appliances but I also have pink counter tops, old cabinets and linoleum floor. I want to renovate it but I need save some pennies first. Maybe early 2016.ReplyCancel

Best thing about my kitchen is the layout. It’s a small kitchen but layed out really well for two people to work at once!ReplyCancel

  • Kelly2.24.15 - 2:04 PM

Your sink looks awesome!! And those countertops are to die for! My favorite thing about my newly renovated kitchen is the faucet too, so I get it. Mine is the Grohe Minta – she stole me heart! I considered the Minta Touch but ultimately decided against it for aesthetic purposes, but now I’m regretting it a little, haha!ReplyCancel

I’m going to say our color scheme? We updated our kitchen several years ago, but it wasn’t a major reno, just cosmetic. I would LOVE to get a new sink and faucet though.ReplyCancel

We just have a builder basic kitchen, but it really like the peninsula we have, there is nothing on it or above it so I can just dump down some flour and start baking away on it. Love it!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica C2.24.15 - 2:55 PM

I appreciate that you asked about the best thing about our kitchens, instead of what we’d like to change. :) That got me thinking beyond my usual complaints. The best thing about my kitchen is that it’s a decent size, especially for a 100-year-old house.ReplyCancel

  • Mel2.24.15 - 3:01 PM

We are slogging through a kitchen renovation as well, but I am loving my new fridge! We recessed it so it is now flush with the wall!ReplyCancel

I love the look! And the idea of not cleaning my faucet handle after touching chicken and washing my hands. And the under-sink storage. So much good going on.ReplyCancel

  • Laurie2.24.15 - 3:36 PM

It doesn’t look like my earlier comment posted, apologies if this is a duplicate…

There’s not much positive I can say about my kitchen – we’ve had multiple contractors agree to start work and then bail, and even more show up to give an estimate and then disappear. We’re this close to doing it ourselves even though we have no idea what we’re doing. Though I guess it’s good in that it’s big enough to have an eating area…

And I’m in love with that faucet, that’s already on the wish list for the new kitchen. :)ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 3:49 PM

      Whoops, found it in spam.

Working with contractors can be an extremely difficult thing to deal with. Even once you have one tied down, timelines get blurry REALLY fast – we know that all too well! Sending good vibes your way!ReplyCancel

The best thing about my kitchen is how many drawers it has! Seriously, I even have *empty* drawers. I feel a little guilty for this, but I’m not sure what to put in some of them!

And wow, what a fabulous upgrade. I didn’t realize how *big* the new faucet was until the picture of Scott washing his hands, lol!ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.24.15 - 4:30 PM

We have so many empty drawers too! It’s such a fancy feeling!ReplyCancel

i love the window above my kitchen sink and the bar that my kids can sit at to eat or do homework!ReplyCancel

  • tammigirl2.24.15 - 4:55 PM

The best thing about my kitchen is that it is truly MY kitchen. We built this house three years ago and I got to choose the cabinets, the floor, etc. It’s got lots of space.

There are a few builder grade things about it which I want to upgrade, but I can live with them for now, hopefully until all these kids are through college and married.

After that, I want a farmhouse sink and a faucet to match the rest of the things in the house. For some reason the builder wouldn’t do certain things so sink, faucet, backsplash, etc. are on hold.ReplyCancel

  • Lisa2.24.15 - 5:07 PM

The best thing about my kitchen is when I’m making soup and the whole house smells wonderful!ReplyCancel

  • Kaleigh2.24.15 - 5:17 PM

the best thing about our kitchen?! Is that we are going to rip it out in the very near future and start fresh!! Sound familiar?! The hardest thing for us to agree on so far? A faucet!!! This would be amazing and be the end of many little disagreements! Ha! Thanks for the giveaway! Love love where your kitchen is headed!!ReplyCancel

The best thing about my kitchen is its size. Not too big, but not too small either.ReplyCancel

  • kribss2.24.15 - 6:18 PM

If you saw how big it is you would die! And its got a Jenn-air stove top/oven. I’m going to miss it when we move but a new faucet for the new house would make it less painful! LOL!ReplyCancel

  • Mercedes2.24.15 - 8:40 PM

What do I love about my kitchen? The tasty food we make there.
I also love our old farmhouse sink with built-in drain boards, but it needs to be refinished and we cannot afford a lovely faucet (wall mount type) as the nice ones are super duper pricey. Ready to call uncle and convert to a standard sink. This faucet would be sink jewelry!ReplyCancel

  • nikki2.25.15 - 6:16 AM

The best part of our kitchen is that it is functional. Ugly, but functional. Since it is functional it is on the bottom of the list to get updated. I’m trying to embrace the ugly green counters.ReplyCancel

    • Kim2.25.15 - 9:06 AM

My college roommates and I had ugly green counters, and we weirdly loved them! Oh, memories…ReplyCancel

Not yet, but we have the electric run for one when we’re ready! We even installed a switch to the right of the sink for it. We haven’t had a disposal for 10 years, and it was never something we wished for, but if we change our mind, we had all the hookups installed!ReplyCancel

  • Jenn2.25.15 - 10:24 AM

Yay for recognizing improvements! I love those built-in spray heads–we had an older version in our last rental and I do miss it very much (even if T is the one who does the dishes 99% of the time). Good luck on the rest of the kitchen remodel!ReplyCancel

  • Lindsey2.25.15 - 10:32 AM

  • Ashley Bee2.25.15 - 11:08 AM

My favorite thing about our kitchen is the new refrigerator we just bought. It is a four door model from Samsung — french door on top with two separate doors (not drawers!) on the bottom. It’s huge and beautiful… Our kitchen faucet however, is not! This would be such an upgrade!ReplyCancel

  • Ann2.25.15 - 11:28 AM

I love that our kitchen is big! Needs some updates, but the size is great!ReplyCancel

  • Trude2.25.15 - 12:43 PM

I recently moved, renting the second bedroom from a lovely gal in a little duplex. There’s no dishwasher, so it really helps that she put in a deep divided sink and a similar faucet with a nice high arch (although it’s not touchless, sigh). Makes washing big pots and pans so much easier!ReplyCancel

  • Alexandra2.25.15 - 12:48 PM

My husband and I just bought our first house, a total fixer upper in the Bay Area. Currently the kitchen faucet is covered in rust and mostly unusable. This beautiful faucet would be a pretty amazing addition to our original 1920’s kitchen!ReplyCancel

  • Haley2.25.15 - 1:02 PM

There’s not much to love in our kitchen, but I guess I would have to say I love the coziness of it. It is small so I’m only 2-3 steps from everything I need when cooking.ReplyCancel

  • Kristine2.25.15 - 1:25 PM

  • Alisha2.25.15 - 1:53 PM

  • Jennifer F.2.25.15 - 2:29 PM

My favorite part about my kitchen is that it’s mine. I am a new first time homeowner and very proud of my little old house. I love being in it and coming home to it at the end of the day. The kitchen is not my style and I absolutely can’t wait for the day that we can update it, but it is mine.ReplyCancel

  • Emily G2.25.15 - 4:21 PM

We just bought our first house in October of last year and we have all kinds of kitchen updates planned – a new sink being a very important one of them!

My favorite thing about our kitchen now is that even with all its quirks (black and white checkered floor that never seems to stay clean, drawers that stick, complete lack of usable counter space) – it’s ours! :)ReplyCancel

  • Kelly2.25.15 - 6:17 PM

The best thing about my kitchen is that is has so much potential. I can’t wait to get started working on it!ReplyCancel

  • Lori2.25.15 - 7:52 PM

  • Kara Bancroft2.25.15 - 11:35 PM

The best thing about my kitchen… the kitchen remodel that is in process. We’re behind you guys, but so happy to be replacing the 70’s cabinets and 80’s appliances! Beside the sleek new appliances and cabinets my favorite is definitely the built-in we recessed into a wall. Bought a little tv to sink into the wall above some shelves for our cookbooks… a little splurge that makes my tiny kitchen feel a little bigger and a lot more luxurious!ReplyCancel

  • sarah2.26.15 - 12:05 AM

Hoping to start a kitchen Reno soon, a faucet like that would be my favorite part!ReplyCancel

  • Ana AT2.26.15 - 10:00 AM

I love having a long counter in my galley kitchen – it makes all the difference in a narrow space.ReplyCancel

  • Eliza F2.26.15 - 10:17 AM

Uh, what’s the best thing about my kitchen? Not much in our rental. I mean, the cabinets are level when compared to my previous rental but the kitchen as a whole was put together as cheaply as possible. So the best thing is the huge movie poster for UP that we added. Next on the DIY least is a painted backsplash and I really look forward to what that’ll add to our kitchen.ReplyCancel

  • Lauren2.26.15 - 10:25 AM

I would love one of these faucets, it’s beautiful and super functional! Your kitchen is looking great so far!ReplyCancel

  • Nora2.26.15 - 12:01 PM

There is literally nothing good about my kitchen right now. It basically looks the same as your old one and every other neglected Chicago condo kitchen. But the best part about THAT scenario is the potential. There is a lot of square footage (though awkwardly laid out) and one day we’re going to do amazing things with it :)ReplyCancel

  • Kaitlin2.26.15 - 12:27 PM

Your kitchen looks fantastic! I understand those 5% headaches as we redid ours some years ago. It was totally designed by me and my husband and totally built by him. Even today, I walk through the door and think “What an amazing kitchen.” But it sure would be great to get some water out of the faucet without getting some kind of cooking gunk all over it. Thanks for the opportunity.
