How Much Did Our Pink Bathroom Renovation Cost?

This post is in partnership with Citizens Bank.

We love old houses. (Old news.) But did you know? Over the last 15 years, we’ve renovated four homes with a combined age of over 450 years! Along this ongoing journey, we’ve learned, succeeded, failed, and had the adventures of a lifetime. That said, a question we’ve heard more times than we could ever count, is:

I’d love to renovate my home, but where do I start?

And while this may seem like the less glamorous side of things, there’s a simple answer: With a budget, of course!

We couldn’t do what we do without setting a budget in some way, shape or form, and while it can be difficult to nail down the number that’s right for you, it’s important that you do. Going into the renovation of our small pink bathroom, we were asked by Citizens Bank if we’d help them, help you, to celebrate the milestone of home ownership, but more importantly, how to make that dream a reality.

Not only were we 100% on board, but we’re opening up and breaking down the very real numbers of our most recent pink bath renovation in the process. Between salvaging original fixtures and saving my beloved mirror, we were able to save on some larger expenses, and it’s because of those ‘saves’ that we were able to ‘splurge’ in other areas.

Get the full budget breakdown right here, and learn how Citizens Bank can help you to ‘Bring It Home’!

I totally appreciate the attempt at transparency here, but I am a little skeptical of the $5k number on the Citizens Bank breakdown. The number doesn’t account for any drywall repairs, Ditra or other underlayment, etc., and the time associated with the finishing/trim work. And if you did the trim work (I honestly cannot remember), then that needs to be taken into account too because many people aren’t experienced DIYers with the tools and experienced necessary to do that type of work. It may be that it’s difficult to estimate those things because this was done in the course of a whole-house remodel, but it seems misleading to suggest that I could remodel my untouched 50s bathroom with original fixtures for $5k even if I chose to reuse some of the original fixtures (which I would). ReplyCancel

Hi, Arielle! The trim work is counted in with the tiling cost, which was the largest spend in this room. That cost includes the materials the pros used to get the job done from start to finish. Keep in mind, this bathroom is SMALL, which keeps the cost low as well.ReplyCancel

Did you have to reconfigure this bathroom at all from the original layout? I can’t seem to keep the two flat bathrooms straight! If you did, how did that factor into cost (I didn’t see it on the breakdown).ReplyCancel

We did have to reconfigure, to make room for a kitchen pantry. That said, we didn’t factor that part into the cost, because the size of the room didn’t change – if we kept the layout exactly as it was, all these numbers would be identical!ReplyCancel

Lovely.  What paint color is on the walls in this room?  Thank you. ReplyCancel

I wish more people would post valuable content about Bathroom Remodeling. This is the first time I’ve been on your website, but after this, I doubt it will be the last time. https://www.longviewbathroomremodeling.com/ReplyCancel
