A few weeks ago, I had the chance to go back to Young’s Dairy, one of my favorite childhood haunts. As you may remember, a trip to Yellow Springs is always a rare opportunity, so I sucked it up for all it’s worth. My friends and I grabbed a delicious lunch, followed by ridiculously yummy ice cream and coffee (topped with fresh, rich cream), and on the way out, we grabbed some pumpkins! Although it was a bit chilly that day, the skies were beautiful and I felt so giddy wrapped in my scarf.
I arranged my tiny harvest in a serving bowl we already had on hand and put those little babies proud on our entryway console table for the world to see. Well, our house guests, anyway. The limey lining of the bowl with the pumpkin-and-gourd guts was the perfect contrast to our punchy green wall.
Those are such beautiful images! This post makes me want to run out and get some pumpkins… although, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t pop as nicely next to the construction chaos of my home :).
My two favorite shows!!
Kasey, thank you! Perhaps they would liven up your construction zone a bit?!
These give me flashbacks to the month I spent in an art class taking way too long to draw a still-life of gourds, various vegetables and fabric in colored pencils. Lots of gnarly stems and bumpy bumps. The colors are really fun. YAY AUTUMN!!!
aw, pumpkins! i’m so emotional right now thinking about my lil pumpkin on his way. my mom’s coming to town this weekend. we’ll finally get the guest bed out of leo’s room and put together his sweet flor rug and get his dressers and clothes all ready. the room still needs a new light fixture and some artwork! but it’ll be a while until he actually sleeps and plays in there.
LOVE that first photo! Ah Fall… :)
