Giveaway: Jess LC

This giveaway is no longer accepting entries. Thank you to everyone who participated!

We’ve yet to get started on that console makeover (blue or yellow? blue? no, yellow?), although with any luck, we’ll solidify the color choice this weekend. We’ve been embracing our cherry wood for now (as we have for years!), but the real star on that entry wall is our most recent art purchase, Just Keep Going, by Jess LC.

A jewelry and accessories designer by trade, Jess is constantly expanding and evolving, and most recently, she created the Wells collection in collaboration with Ampersand Design Studio. With Jess’ mission to help people design a life with intention, the Wells collection interprets those intentions through inspiring, frame friendly 16″x20″ art prints. (Learn more about the collection’s story right here.) Alongside Just Keep Going is Be Brave, Be Present and Dream Bigger, from left to right:

But let’s talk about what’s in it for you. We’ve teamed up with Jess to treat one lucky reader to their own grey and gold Just Keep Going print, our personal favorite with an encouraging message. We’re so lucky to call Jess a friend, and as she’s reminded us (both personally and through her written words), when you get knocked down, get back up. Dust yourself off, and just keep going.

The details:

  • Up for grabs: One lucky winner will receive a 16″x20″ Just Keep Going print from the Jess LC Wells collection.
  • To enter: Simply comment on this post and let us know, what’s your motto? You know, your daily mantra – those words you (strive to) live by? Maybe you firmly believe that when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. Or maybe, you simply believe in the power of clean skivvies (like mom always said).
  • For additional entries: Share this giveaway on Facebook or Twitter, then come back and leave a comment letting us know. (One additional comment for each method – up to 2 extra entries!)
  • Giveaway ends: Tuesday, May 8th, 6pm EST
  • Shipping restrictions: Anywhere in the world

The lucky dog winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Wednesday, May 9th. Good luck and happy entering!

  • After moving so far away from my family this past year and feeling a little lost because of it I found this statement to think about and reread often:

Your journey has molded you for the greater good,
it was exactly what it needed to be.
Don’t think that you’ve lost time.
It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now.
And now is the right time.

  • Britani5.4.12 - 1:26 PM

Oh yay, I’m so excited about this give away! I just stumbled on your blog about a month ago and I love everything about your place! This print is my FAVORITE, so I’m so happy about this entry!

My motto came from a lecture I listened to online. It was about prioritizing, and making the best use of your time. My favorite quote was “If you have to eat a frog, don’t spend a lot of time looking at it. If you have to eat three of ’em, don’t start with the small one.” Meaning, don’t over-think or put off doing big/annoying/UN-appetizing things to do- just get it over with and you’ll feel much better for it afterwards! It’s a little sillier than ‘just rip the band-aid off’, that’s why I love it :)ReplyCancel

  • Cait @ Hernando House5.4.12 - 1:34 PM

I guess I have a couple mottos. I like “everything happens for a reason”, “work hard & be nice to people”, and maybe my personal fave: “Raised in the church of ‘be nice to people and don’t talk with your mouth full'” (yes, it’s a line from Sex & the City).ReplyCancel

  • Kimberly Bray5.4.12 - 1:59 PM

  • Melissa5.4.12 - 4:26 PM

The thing I’ve been telling myself to get me through the last few years is “If you never try, you’ve already failed”. My fear of failure has stopped me from doing so much, and this helps to remind me that I will never succeed if I never try.ReplyCancel

hmmm…i’m not sure i have a motto. what i say the most is, “walk on the green line with a bubble in your mouth and your hands in a hookup” or…”if your friends told you to jump off of a bridge, would you do it?”

2nd grade doesn’t necessarily allow for a personal mantra, but for countdowns to summer! :)ReplyCancel

  • Lili5.5.12 - 7:46 PM

Love the print! Definitely something I need to be reminded of, often, lately.

I have a few mottos I try to be by:

“My goal in life is to be as good a person my dogs think I am”

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do, are in harmony”

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

    and

“There is no worst failure than not trying”

Before deciding to go back to school for a second degree (in a subject waaayyy far removed from what I ever imagined I’d do), I saw this quote:

“It’s never too late to become what you might have been.” -attributed to George Eliot

It gave me the courage to go for my dreams, and I’ve lived by it ever since. We can always change, do better, try something new and seemingly impossible.

Also, this one by Pink, “So what, I’m still a rockstar,” for when I might have screwed up a little bit. :)ReplyCancel

My mantra has to be “I may not understand know, but things work out just the way they are supposed to be.”

One of my other favorites (for times that require the above) is “Welcome to the hallway.” The hallway is the void between the door that closes & the window that opens; it can be dark!ReplyCancel

  • Jess5.7.12 - 11:43 AM

“The horses don’t care that it is Christmas”

Seems weird, but it was a daily saying in my house growing up. It was my Dad’s way of reminding me that there are people (or animals!) depending on you every day and it is your job to fulfill your commitments to them. I say it to myself often because in the midst of stress, troubles, or celebrations, it reminds me of the bigger picture.ReplyCancel

‘Be Content’ – I try to remind myself of this everyday. I have a wonderful life and I need to not forget it!ReplyCancel

  • Kalli5.7.12 - 2:11 PM

Ha, that pretty much IS my motto lately, since I’ve been suffering a lot of disappointments this year – basically, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. That’s all I can be sure of right now, that time will pass, things eventually have to improve, right?ReplyCancel

  • Emily Klaczynsky5.7.12 - 4:16 PM

My personal reminder is that “It’s not suppossed to be easy.” Sometimes when things get tough, I want to just quit until I remind myself that it’s not all suppossed to be easy. Being challenged and uncomfortable is a great growing experience!ReplyCancel

  • Diana5.7.12 - 4:56 PM

Love the print! I don’t really have a “saying” per se. However, when growing up our family saying was “Do unto others, as you would have them do to you.” Which really makes you think before you act or say something.ReplyCancel

  • Rachel5.7.12 - 6:09 PM

What an awesome poster! Something I like to keep in my mind is “treat people the way you want to be treated” I remember my mom telling me this as a kid and I think our world would be a much better place if people were just kind to each other.ReplyCancel

  • Becca5.8.12 - 10:09 AM

I tend to worry a lot, so I don’t really have a motto so much as an image. When I get really freaked out about something I think “ocean waves” – the sound it brings up is soothing and I try to breathe in time with the waves breaking.ReplyCancel

  • Nicole J5.8.12 - 12:12 PM

I pinned the artist right after reading this post, so am so glad to see it as a giveaway!!

My life’s mantra is – and has been, for quite some time – “Be compassionate, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.” It reminds me that people aren’t jerks just to be jerks, but that everyone’s life/personality/struggles are formed by their own battles.ReplyCancel

  • Tabitha5.8.12 - 12:16 PM
