10| A potted succulent in a modern black planter that will look so cute on their windowsill.

11| This clean and simple cotton rope basket that they’ll want to put in every room of the house. We have more of these than we can count, filled with anything from toys, blankets and future-Lucy-clothes.

12| A luxe bedding bundle that will give them the best sleep they never knew they were missing. We have these in smoke stripe, and they are by far the best bedding we’ve ever owned.

For DIY-ers: Scott’s Picks

1| This 12v drill/driver is the only power tool that gets used at some point during every single project. We love the compact design, light weight, and three bright LEDs to illuminate the task at hand.

2| A shirt that’s also a jacket? A jacket that’s also a shirt? Who knows, but when work pulls your favorite DIY’er between indoor and outdoor jobs, they’ll never be too hot or too cold.

3| This 20v finish nailer changed the way we install baseboards and window casings. We love that we no longer need to have a noisy air compressor running while we work during Lucy’s naps!

4| This cordless multi-tool should be in everyone’s tool arsenal. We’ve used it to cut and grind metal, wood, plastic and natural stone. Completely indispensable. Seriously.

5| Why ruin your favorite shirt when this waxed canvas apron can keep you tidy during messy jobs?

6| This compound miter saw is powerful enough and offers enough adjustment for all but the most complicated woodworking jobs. We’ve had this workhorse in our Chicago garage for years, and it does exactly what we need it to every. single. time.

7| Black coffee fuels our project days around here. This thermos is just the thing to keep it hot while we’re between fill-ups! 20% Off 1 item + free shipping with code UPICK.

8| This bluetooth radio charger is the combo unit dreams are made of. Charge your 20v or 60v batteries while the jams accompany your black coffee in keeping you motivated. Oh, and there’s a bottle opener to pop tops when the work is done!

9| The Kreg jig mini kit helps to fasten things together in ways we never thought possible. Small but mighty!

10| This table saw makes rip cuts quickly and accurately. We seriously never knew how necessary a table saw was until we owned one.

11| A compact tool pouch is on my list of items to work into my everyday DIY rotation in 2019. This one seems to fit the bill perfectly with just enough space for the essentials.

12| Set of 4 Quick clamps are great for when two hands (or four, if Kim and I are tag-teaming a project) are not enough. If the woodworker or fix-it person in your life doesn’t have a set, these would make a great stocking stuffer!

13| The Gear Track system offers more modular storage combinations than we can count. Organized workspaces are productive workspaces!

14| This powerful cordless blower makes cleanup a breeze. (Dad joke alert!)

15| These organizers keep fasteners and small parts tidy and organized. Fill them up with frequently-used nails and screws to kick the organization spree off right! Or maybe fill them up with candy? Yeah – definitely candy!

Question, I am looking at getting a brad nailer/finish nailer for my husband for Christmas. I noticed you recommended the finish nailer. Would you say that is more universal? Is there a point in having both? Is there one you use more? Am I even making sense? ha.ReplyCancel

You’re making sense! We don’t even own a brad nailer. We use our finish nailer for everything! A brad nailer is a little more lightweight, so it can’t handle larger jobs, whereas I think a finish nailer can be used universally.ReplyCancel
