Continuing Tradition

Let the holiday traditions begin, kicking it off with Thanksgiving Day.  This time around, I have the feeling we’ve clearly outdone ourselves, as the menu includes everything from the big, fat bird, to casseroles of cheesy noodles, whipped potatoes, stuffed veggies, and of course, pies, tortes, and the like.  Top it all off with frosty drinks and hot mugs of coffee, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a nap comin’ on.

Unfortunately, Scott has to work the dreaded black Friday, so we rarely have the chance to make it “home” to see the family.  It turned out to be the same issue with two of our pals, Pete and Rachael, so starting last year, we began our own tradition of an in-town feast fest with friends.  The potluck style meal leaves many leftovers, as you can imagine, which just makes for more friendly gatherings tomorrow night.  Hosted by one of my closest gal pals, Penina, we’ll be diving in for round two at her homestead in about 36 hours.  And counting.  Warm food, friends, and a board game or two, and Scott and I are fully aware of how thankful we are for the wonderful Chicago-style family in our lives.

But before I get ahead of myself, I just had to share the warm fuzzies of the holiday season with our own rendition of Stuff On My Cat.  Our little Libby, in all her glory, shows us that even she can get in on the Thanksgiving action.  Love the accessory, Lib.

Now that I’ve dished our details, I’d love to know how you celebrate your own Thanksgiving traditions.  Do you steer clear of overcrowded homes and happily grab take out from your favorite joint? Are you with a best friend and no one else? Or do you travel to sit at a table set for twenty? Whether it’s jet setting to be with the ones you love, or laying low in the comfort of your own four walls, I hope this day finds all of you in good company and high spirits.

oh Libby, such a rolly-polly. On Thanksgiving I watched a horror movie about a smartass, (talking) killer turkey. It was really the most ridiculous movie I’ve ever seen, so I was kind of mesmerized. Hope you had a happy holiday, it sounds nice and cozy- love you!ReplyCancel

I’ve been told several times by a certain girl whose name rhymes with “farina” that I simply MUST meet your cat and from what I can see here she looks ADORABLE. I luuuurve putting objects on my kitties and photographing them, or watching them stuff themselves into small areas like my small bathroom sink and laughing at their tenacity.ReplyCancel
