Card Tin

Last but not late to the Randolph Flea party (see our other finds here and here) is this tiny tin, found at the Apartment 528 booth. For just 4 dollars (alphabet dividers included, how polite), we planned to use it as shelter for our growing collection of business cards.

Yes, I know we can log this information in various computer programs, but no way, dudes. With all the styles, papers, colors, and press being so impressive, I couldn’t imagine tossing them all and going digital. (You must also realize that this is coming from a girl that resisted digital photography until a few years ago. And still doesn’t know how to work a smart phone.) They’re inspiring, really.

And rather than being clustered in the dark corners of our filing cabinet, I think they look much better now. Always important.

With that, we’re finally squared up with the flea finds – aside from my growing collection of old timey photographs. As for those, well, that may be a project down the road, since my ideas involves an insane amount of massively large frames. Luckily, they store quite nicely in our sideboard; out of sight, out of mind (for now).

How do you store those cards? I’m not the last of a dying breed, am I?

I keep business cards in my wallet (I only have a few) and no, I don’t know how to work a smartphone either! I don’t see the point of them – what do I use a phone for? Calls and text, so why do I need a shmancy touchscreen gadget?

This box is soo cute though, and makes finding things so much easier than rooting around the depths of some Access directory (and Surely more eco-friendly?)

I think this is a really cute idea! We tend to chuck cards from other wedding vendors in a drawer, which doesn’t keep them very organized. I will be adding this to my list for our next antique mall trip :)ReplyCancel

  • I use the exact same method! I have index cards filled in with phone numbers and addresses for family and friends, but I keep business cards in the same file. It’s such a simple system, and cheap and cute to boot!ReplyCancel

    Kimbo,
You not knowing how to use a smart phone is like Atilla not knowing how to use a sword! Great post!

I keep my cards in a file box too – though I have yet to organize them. Best business card idea I stole from someone else is to write on the backs of the cards when and where you met the person and any other useful info. It seems a shame to mar some of the prettier cards, and maybe my memory is just that bad, but it’s a good way to how you met someone and what sort of business-y things you talked about or offered to help each other with.ReplyCancel

I wish I had just an ounce of your creativity. I think this is a great idea as everything should have a specific place to be useful, because my ‘storage solutions’ often result in things getting lost or misplaced.ReplyCancel

I’m a little late to the party (oops!) but wanted to say I’m glad you like the file box! I actually have two more in the shop and have been trying to figure out how to use them in my office…your idea has me inspired. Oh and your green walls, AWESOME! Your a girl after my own, colorful heart :)ReplyCancel
