Category Archives: Furniture You may remember last year when we hit up the first annual Vintage Bazaar in our ‘hood’s music venue, The Congress Theater. Well, the 2011 edition was yesterday, and it was awesome. Same place; same time. Everything from Herman Miller chairs to old bowling pins, prints, letterpress, and pre-made terrariums were represented. We even bore witness to the debut…  Ah, the ottoman. That is to say, our man, Otto. He’s finished! Hallelujah, praise above, and yadda yadda. Since we first mentioned him right here, it’s been well over a month, and goodness knows we took our sweet, slow time. The last time you actually saw the silly thing, it was looking like this: Of…  Oh, hey, so the crazy lady in me went and ordered two new fabric choices for the now-infamous ottoman. You know, just to see. How unvery thrifty of me. However! Each yard of fabric was on sale for $4 (first pinned here, and bought from Fabric.com. It’s since gone up in price). But then add…  Fabric shopping is hard. There were times where I swear I saw the same print in ten different colors on twenty separate sites, only to find out they were in no way the same, they went by thirty different names (no, the math does not check out), and some were so much dinero, I’d have… We have an ottoman that we’d rather not have to look at. Yes, a few throw blankets and pillows can go a long way, but it’s ugly, boxy and was purchased years ago in a crazed moment of not thinking clearly. However! It’s functional (and was cheap, too). So, there it stayed, in the corner…  A few weekends ago, the Missus and I finally took a trip to the famous Randolph Street Market. Billed as one of the top 3 national urban antique markets (did ya catch all that?), friends had been telling us for years that it would blow our minds. And they were so, so right. The second we… |
