Let’s Makeover a Space In Your Home with Lowe’s!

KLV_5582

Does your home’s porch need as much love as ours? (Or maybe it’s your living room? Or bedroom? Or maybe you just really want the most perfect dining space for late night games and storytelling?) Today, we are so, so excited to finally share that we’ll be working with Lowe’s to help you makeover a space in your home! If you’re a homeowner and have been closing the door to those scarier rooms – because let’s face it, we do that, too – we encourage you to submit your worst offender for a big, fat springtime refresh, and we’ll get that space into shape. (Hey, are you ready already? Apply right here!)

garden-start-12

There are too many things about the application process that make our hearts so happy. For one, anyone in the United States is eligible to enter their room, and we will personally be reading through each and every story and sifting through each and every photo submission. You can apply starting right now, and applications are open all day Tuesday and Wednesday, closing at 11:59pm EST on Wednesday, February 10th. (In other words, let’s get to it!) We’re looking to hear your personal story and how we can work together to make a space you’ll love, a space you’ll want to spend all your time in – napping, dining, morning primping or cocktail sipping.

Once the applicant has been chosen, we’ll come to your front door with a crew of Lowe’s volunteers and with your help, we’ll get right down to DIY! While we won’t have time to, say, demolish and renovate an entire bathroom, we will create an enviable punch list that’s two pages too long (you know us; what else is new?) and nail it. We’ll paint, plant, sod, light and build – maybe all of the above? – and we’ll do it all on Lowe’s dime! Here’s the bottom line: We’ll work with you one on one to create a one room design plan you love, and we’ll knock it out in 24 hours while having (likely, too much) fun along the way.

There are a few things to keep in mind, with eligibility criteria as follows:

Be looking to fix up a space within your residence
Makeover project should be able to be completed within 24 hours
Must be the owner of your home
Be outgoing, energetic, and fun with unique stories to tell
Be comfortable being on camera and/or interviewed by media
Be in need of expert design help from one participating blogger
Be able to make quick decisions in order to keep tight timelines
Be available for a 2 day period to complete the makeover (between February 9 -May 1, 2016)
Allow photos of your home to be shared online
Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
Complete the online application form and agree to the Terms below
To apply visit: lowesspringmakeover2016.castingcrane.com
We will only contact eligible participants

Remember, you have all of Tuesday and Wednesday to submit your space, and applications close at 11:59 pm EST this Wednesday, February 10th. We truly can’t wait to dive in and see how we can help you transform your patio – or music room! Or sun porch! Or home office! – and we’ll contact the chosen applicant next week. What do you think, are you up for it? Can we hang out for a weekend, you and us? APPLY HERE.

Because Lowe’s want to help more than one of you, we’re part of a crew of 8 (beyond inspiring – pinch us) bloggers that will be helping homeowners across the country. Follow along with each of them, too!

OMG OMG. I will take pictures for this tomorrow. Just one question– I can’t decide between my living room and master bedroom. They both seriously need serious makeovers. Could I submit for both, and you guys choose?ReplyCancel

    • Kim - February 9, 2016 - 7:21 AM

Hi Lori, it would be more helpful to choose just one space when we’re going over all the applications! Choose the one that would mean more to you :)ReplyCancel

      • Lori - February 9, 2016 - 10:46 AM

I see Daniel’s participating too, and since you guys are very favorites, I am gonna pick a different awful space for each of you to look at. I can’t narrow it down to one! And they’re the two spaces that have been making me NUTS with frustration since I bought this place, so any help making them not suck would be appreciated forever!ReplyCancel

        • Kim - February 9, 2016 - 10:56 AM

Lori! Okay, so here’s an update from the team at Lowe’s – you can only submit one application, but you are welcome to include more than one space within that application. Of course we’d need to decide which space would work better with the budget and timeline, but feel free to include both!

Thank you for the kind words, and we love Daniel so much, too! Decisions, decisions…ReplyCancel

          • Lori - February 10, 2016 - 10:50 PM

Just submitted…beat the deadline by 10 minutes. Whew!

I can’t wait to see what kind of project you guys choose! I’m sure it’s gonna be awesome.

I wish! But all they’d do is eat all the spackle and lick all the paint, so we’d need more than a day or two to finish the makeover… Ha!ReplyCancel

    • Jenna - February 10, 2016 - 9:18 AM

I agree with Monika! You can have free reign to my house. I just want to snuggle and play with Jack and CC! Those jowls kill me!ReplyCancel

  • Sarah S - February 9, 2016 - 11:09 AM

Is this just for indoor spaces/spaces connected to your house? We definitely have a large bonus room in our house that needs some help, but we also have a garden outside that would be a great candidate for a makeover. It looks like the previous owner tried to make some sort of garden with a water feature (there is a little water wheel fallen over on it’s side and a little “pool”) but didn’t fully follow through with the plan. It would definitely take a team of volunteers to clean up which is one reason my husband and I haven’t even touched it yet. Is this something to submit? Thanks.ReplyCancel

    • Kim - February 9, 2016 - 11:18 AM

Hi Sarah – good question. This can be indoor or outdoor, so either your bonus room OR outside garden would make great candidates for this makeover!ReplyCancel

  • carrie @ brick city love - February 9, 2016 - 11:15 AM

Can I tempt you with an adorable, gigantic, 95lb bully-pit rescue? Our backyard desperately needs attention and we’ve run out of steam.ReplyCancel

Just submitted our application!! I’m realistic so I’m not sure we’re gonna be what you’re looking for but goodness I hope we get picked. We need you.

Plus – rescue pitty & NYC just 19 minutes away. We’d have so much fun!!ReplyCancel

  • Jenni - February 9, 2016 - 12:02 PM

I’ve got a great space to enter! We bought our house mostly for this space — and then our large dogs ruined it by being a little too excited for pee breaks. :DReplyCancel

      We know that feeling, too!ReplyCancel

    • Kim - February 9, 2016 - 2:10 PM

Hi Rachael, thanks for pointing that out! I wondered where the confusion might have been coming from. It looks like it’s an option on the drop down menu for location, but it is only open to US homeowners. So sorry about that! I wish so hard it could be worldwide!ReplyCancel

I grew up in Chicagoland before moving down to Fl a few years ago and I can tell you that the warmer weather is a great perk! I don’t know if it quite makes up for the lack of Chicago food (Portillos, I miss you!!), but I’ll take what I can get.ReplyCancel

Hi there, just discovered you guys while reading a post on Daniel’s blog :)

When I saw the pic of the (fabulous) headboard I thought “Palisander”… Are you 100% sure it’s oak.
Lovely in any case, great find!ReplyCancel

    • Kim - February 11, 2016 - 8:30 AM

Thanks, Janet, happy you found us! I wish it was Palisander. This wood is/was WAY too yellow (and I’m sure, much more cheaply made)!ReplyCancel

The photo with wide-shot showing your cozy nook and hallway is awesome. I love your the dark color and lavender chair. It’s so inviting. It’s 15 degrees with a negative wind chill in Chicago today. I hope that you are taking some time to relax in your nook today and enjoy it. This cold weather is why cozy nooks were made.ReplyCancel
