It makes for a great bartender.
Using inspiration from Anchor B, I spent a little too much time on my cursive letters (I’d be lying if I said it was easy), and while I’ve certainly seen better, it did make for a fun “bar” set up during our holiday barbecue.
Scott surprised me by getting in on the chalky action, too. As our friends entered, they were guided towards the food (i.e., the grill on the patio) or the, um, bar. Ironically, our framed art may have been a bit confusing.
We (read: I) took full advantage of the fresh rosemary drinks, which left me feeling rather ill by the end of the night (I so had it coming). Regardless, it was a great day with our closest friends.

Our weekend was great because Scott, Kim, and the newlyweds were in town. But it went by all too quickly, as usual.

The chalkboard walls are just right for a party. Was the rosemary fizz recipe from “Bon Appetit”? It sounds familiar.
Hey Kalli, the recipe was a mish-mash from a few different recipes. It’s basically just a gin fizz with rosemary simple syrup instead of regular simple syrup. It was TOO good, hence the ill feeling I had by the end of the evening!
Oh, I think I pinned a drink like that from Cup of Jo. Love simple syrup infusions. I guess if you overdid it on the alcohol but had some left, you could add rosemary syrup to lemon juice and ice water for a fancy lemonade. Ginger syrup is nice to have around too, it’s great for tea when you feel a bit ill or added to pineapple juice.
The rosemary lemon drink sounds fab. I’ve done variations on that and in my book, any drink with herbs is awesome :) Also, your cursive letters look great!
I’m in love with your chalk writing skills. This might be a silly question but what kind of chalk do you use? Just regular stick chalk? I feel like I can never get my lines clean like you do! Any tips you can share?
Hi Shelby, thank you! Yes, I was just using regular chalk, but I’ve been told that chalk markers would be really helpful for perfect lines:

Personally, we love the look of a smudgey board, so we’re fine (for now) using regular chalk. As for tips… patience! I also used a ruler to make light, straight lines, and I erased them once I had the recipe written out. Hope that helps!
